Xbox not automatically restarting after update, takes me back to the “start update” page again.

I am frustrated with this!.... i had to try 3 times with the BIND/EJECT taking me to a troubleshoot page. I would hit troubleshoot, taking me back to the "something whent wrong with the update" page.. hitting try again multiple times would advance me to
the update.. Finally!! But after 12% it would fail? And kick me back 2 the something wrong page again kept repeating the try again prompt to get back into the update. And would fail at 12% again the third time I got into the update screen I kept the analog
stick moving thinking it would keep it active. I have no idea if it works. But the update went through.

You probably had gone past the mandatory time for the update, hence why it went to the update screen when you turned it on. Also there was a Live core issue affecting sign in and updates the last 2 days.

The restart after verify takes a while, maybe a couple of minutes, so if you normally do automatic updates with Instant on mode overnight, you wouldn't be used to the wait while it restarts. Typically the TV will show no input right before the XBox
console will start back up and go to the Applying stage of the update.

Try this.. Turn off the console and remove the power cable for a couple of minutes.

Restore power and turn on.. All being well the update should continue.

Okay try this: Open the Settings app (the gear in the start menu)
Open Accounts
Click Sign-in Options
Scroll down to Privacy
Uncheck "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update and restart."
Restart your PC

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! I gave this a shot: in Windows 11 it involved disabling two separate settings, "Automatically save my restartable apps and restart them when I sign back in" and "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up after an update". However, unfortunately this still didn't work after checking with a friend

It started working again. It started working after the computer restarted for the last Windows 10 update. The Xbox app started on its own after that restart and has been working ever since.

It may be as simple as turning off the console and removing the power cable of the console for a few minutes while you restart your network hardware.

Wait until your network is back up (green lights), before restoring power to the console and turning back on.

If an update is required it will start or continue where it left off.

Be aware that the console will auto restart after the Verifying stage. This restart seems to take a while but just be patient and it will come to the Applying stage of the update and continue.

All being well, upon completion the console will load your Home page or Passkey input page.
