Xbox Game Pass PC - Allowing kids to access games without compromising accounts.

I have some games on my Xbox Game Pass account my kids would like to play on PC - mainly Minecraft Java Edition.

From what I understand the only way to have this work without issue is for me to be logged into the Microsoft Store app with my account. However, I'm concerned this would potentially allow them to make purchases on my account.

Is there anyway to give them access to play the games whilst also keeping my account secure from unwanted purchases?

Whilst generally I wouldn't expect them to make purchases it doesn't feel like a very secure arrangement. Is there a way to allow my kids to play the games without potentially having to compromise my account to do so?

Currently that is the only way to share on PC. The only other option would be to purchase the game again on their accounts.

To play Minecraft on a Windows PC, you typically need to be logged into the Microsoft Store with the account that owns the game. This is due to the way Microsoft manages game licenses and user authentication.

However, if you have Minecraft through Xbox Game Pass, and your Windows 11 account has access to Game Pass, you can play Minecraft without switching accounts. Game Pass allows for family sharing, so as long as the account with Game Pass is set as the home account on your PC, all profiles on that PC can access its games.

Game Pass is like Netflix for games. You can play any game in the library without purchasing the games individually. There is a Game Pass for console and a Game Pass for PC.

Game Pass Ultimate includes both Game Pass for console and Game Pass for PC as well as a Gold subscription so you can play online multiplayer. Ultimate also gives you access to Cloud gaming and EA Play.

Xbox Cloud gaming allows you to sign into a laptop, mobile device, and the console, and play games without having to download them.

Xbox gold allows you to play online, gives you 4 free games a month (2 Xbox 360 and 2 Xbox One), and weekly discounts on games.

Game Pass allows you access to games from the game pass library without having to buy them all individually. You also get a discount if you decide to purchase the games.

The subscriptions are different, but you can also purchase Game Pass Ultimate which includes both plus Game Pass for PC and would be cheaper.

You are right about the same account. You cannot log in on two Xbox One consoles at the same time using the same account. So for your kids to use the new console, it would be best to create an Xbox account each. That way they can play the games without using
some ones save.

As for game pass, with the account that already has it, log in on the new console, and make it the home Xbox. That would allow your kids to use the Xbox and the games without needing the account with game pass to log in. More info on the home Xbox here
