i purchased a game from microsoft store make payment money debited from my account but...

To set your expectations properly, all the completed purchases on the account is save to the order history. Kindly verify your game purchase by checking your Order history here: https://account.microsoft.com > Order history.

Once you see the game there you should have the option to install the game.

It is the games license that'll allows you to install and then play the game.

To install the game, go to Store> Search for the game> Install.

Then why did it charge my entire debit card when my account balance was just $60 when I first purchased it? I had to make a refund soon after the purchase. It should have charged everything from my account balance and cover the rest of the payment from my debit card.

If you have money on your account then that is the default method Microsoft will use to take the payment, unless you also have another payment option and you choose this instead.

If you buy something with your account balance, it will not show on a bank statement.

You can also split payments between account balance and credit/debit cards. Any credit/debit payments from split purchases would show on a statement however.

GG it doesn't even give me the option to add my debit card to make a purchase, which is strange in itself because DC's are the standard payment option in the UK, but back to my main point why can't I use my paypal account in conjunction with what money I
have in my Microsoft account to make a purchase?

Xbox Live Gold can not be purchased by currency stored in your account (Microsoft Points, Currency Gift Cards, etc.)

You may be able to use Microsoft rewards points towards Gold but that's not money stored in your account.

You must use a Credit/Debit card or Paypal/Bank payments.
