Hi!

My monitor only has a digital port, so I went and got a HDMI to DIGITAL cable, there is no signal on the monitor so i plugged my xbox into my TV with hdmi and it works, can someone explain if this is a fixable issue or am I better off looking for a new monitor?

    Hdmi to digital not working

Hi there, and thank you for reaching out. My name is Aileen, and I am an independent advisor here to guide you.

It sounds like you're trying to connect your Xbox to a monitor that only has a DVI (digital) input using an HDMI to DVI cable, but you're not getting any signal. Since the Xbox works fine on your TV using HDMI, we know the console itself is working, which helps narrow it down.

Here are a few things to try:

    1. Check the cable type:

Make sure your HDMI-to-DVI cable is one-way HDMI out to DVI in. Some adapters or cables are directional and only work one way.

    2. No audio on DVI:

DVI only carries video, no sound. So even if you get a picture later, you’ll need to use a headset or optical audio for sound.

    3. Use the right DVI port on the monitor:

If your monitor has both DVI-I and DVI-D, make sure you're plugged into the DVI-D (digital only) port.

    4. Manually set resolution (optional method):

If your monitor doesn’t support 1080p, your Xbox might be sending a resolution it can’t handle. Try this:

    Plug Xbox into your TV

Go to Settings > General > TV & display options

    Set the resolution to 720p

    Save changes

Then plug the Xbox into your monitor again

    5. Still not working?

Some monitors just aren't compatible with HDMI sources through DVI. If none of the steps work, it's likely a limitation of the monitor itself, not the cable or Xbox.

If you're thinking of replacing the monitor, I recommend one with native HDMI input for a more stable and future-proof connection.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Looking forward to your response.

Dolby Digital - Anyone having trouble ? w/update

I updated my Xbox One with the latest March update and I do not see the option of Dolby Digital 5.1 compressed for HDMI, only for Optical Output and it does work know; I do get Dolby digital 5.1 with the optical cable connected from the Xbox One to my receiver,
but it doesn't work with HDMI and I know is not my equipment because my Xbox 360 is hooked up to the same TV and receiver and I get Dolby Digital 5.1 with HDMI, that been said I believed Dolby Digital 5.1 compressed is still not supported through HDMI on the
    Xbox ONE.

    HDMI Cables

No HDMI cables are digital so does not mater which brand you use. All of my HDMI cables are generic bought them at an outlet store and they work great.

Incompetent Customer Service - Dolby Digital via HDMI
So is it a matter of console settings to get DD5.1 via HDMI on the Xbox?
There isn't an HDMI-specific setting. Under Digital Output, one can set either Digital Stereo (LPCM), Dolby Digital 5.1, or Dolby Digital with WMA Pro
    (supposedly for WMC Extender).

This controls all digital outs, optical and HDMI, not just HDMI. There's no HDMI-specific setting.

No Signal Live TV X1 Xbox One Comcast Cisco RNG150N (could never get a signal)

ok I found a solution.. not the best but it does work

I had a HDMI powered splitter laying around (J-Tech Digital JTD-MINI-1x2SP 2 Port 1X2 Powered Hdmi Super Mini Splitter for Full Hd 1080P with 3D Capability) it must boost the signal a little because it works fine now.

I also tried a KVM style HDMI but it didn't work (J-Tech Digital JTD3DSP0301 3-Port High Speed HDMI Switch with IR Wireless Remote and AC Power Adapter)

    I hope this helps someone
