PSN linked to another account yet Microsoft account is brand new

I’m Aileen, an Xbox Expert and fellow gamer. That does sound nerve-racking, especially after just creating the account and already running into a strange PSN link error. I’ve seen a few cases like this, and I’ll walk you through what’s likely happening.

Here’s what’s going on and what you can try:

Once a PSN account is linked to a Microsoft account, it can't be unlinked or re-linked to a different one

If you see the message saying your new Microsoft account is already linked to another PSN account, it usually means that PSN ID was previously linked to a different Microsoft account, even if you didn’t realize it.

You may have linked it in the past without realizing

This happens a lot when users test login with older Microsoft accounts or had Xbox services before and forgot. It only takes one successful link for the PSN and Microsoft systems to lock it in.

Use your PSN ID to check if it’s tied to an older Microsoft account

Try signing into > https://www.minecraft.net or https://account.xbox.com with any older Microsoft emails you may have used.

If the PSN was ever linked to one of those, it should show up once logged in.

What you can’t do right now

Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't currently offer a way to unlink a PSN ID from a Microsoft account once it’s been connected. Even if it was accidental, that link becomes permanent under the current policy.

I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, especially if you were just trying to get things set up. The best move now is to figure out which Microsoft account your PSN was first linked to, and if that one’s recoverable, use it instead of the new one.

it can only be done on psn side as it is connected to their system, but once a microsoft account is linked to a psn account it cannot be linked to another.

The solution is to link your PSN ID to another Microsoft account, because the
The Microsoft account you are trying to use is already linked to another PSN ID.
Each Microsoft account can only be linked to one PSN ID and vice versa.

Note: If a Microsoft account is linked to a PlayStation account, neither the
Microsoft account nor the PlayStation Network account can be linked to other
accounts.

Hi, wanted to ask, since i cant relink my microsoft account with another psn.Would it be possible for me to delete the account completely and make a new microsoft account with the same email, then link it to another psn? this is for minecraft services .

I would also like to add that I have never made another PSN account therefore I can't have my Microsoft account linked to another PSN account.
