cannot change privacy settings due to being a “teen account” no parent attatched? pls help

Because you’re under 18, Microsoft requires a parent or guardian to manage your privacy and communication settings. If there isn’t one attached to your account, here’s what you can do:

1. Add a parent or guardian in your Microsoft family

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family and sign in with your teen account

Under Your family, select Add a family member

Choose Member > Adult, then enter your parent’s email to send an invitation

When they accept, they can manage your privacy settings, like enabling chat in Minecraft

2. If you can’t add a parent’s email

Ask an adult you trust to create a Microsoft account if they don’t already have one

Have them follow the steps above to join your family

3. Emancipate your account (if you’re over 18 but still flagged as a teen)

Visit the Xbox support page for privacy settings:

Scroll down to “Need help with family settings?” and select “Contact us”

Explain that you’re over 18 and need your account reclassified—support can update your age group after verifying your identity

Once a parent or guardian is linked, they can adjust your settings under Family > Privacy & online safety to allow chatting in Minecraft.

If your Birthday on your Microsoft Accounts designates you as a Child or Teen account, you might need a Parent in your Microsoft Account family to make the setting changes for you.

To clarify are you unable to lock your Privacy Settings to make changes?
That might might be due to its classification as a Child or Teen account. If it's that you're unsure of what settings to change for your

Privacy and Online Safety Settings does it provide you with an error when you try in game to better identify what settings might be blocking it?

It might not specifically be Privacy and Online Safety settings,
but other Family settings that Adult accounts in your Microsoft family can set for your account. Check who is in your Family at your
Microsoft Account page. This could again be an issue as being identified as a child or teen account, and if you are an adult,

you might need to verify your age after changing it to the proper date.

Can you clarify what you are experiencing? Are you referring to not being able to play due to child restrictions? You can change that, underneath the parent account, settings> choose the account that you wish to change the privacy settings.

Same here. I did not write down the parent account email or password when I made it (because I was younger and didn't pay attention). However, I cannot buy anything or download certain things now due to my account being "child/teen." Help, anyone?
