I love the AutoHDR feature; however, can we have an option to set it to use HDR10 or Dolby Vision as the type?

Dolby Vision HDR has not taken off with native implementations and my LG G2 OLED as well as all LG G/C-series OLED's have an over brightened EOTF; because of this, HDTVTest, AVSForums et al, recommend disabling Dolby Vision Gaming.

Moreover, I think it makes the most sense for the Dolby Vision Gaming to only trigger when a game natively supports the standard ie Halo Infinite and soon to be released Gears of War: Reloaded.

HDR not working with BenQ EW277HDR monitor

    Hi,

    Thank you for the answer.

Yes, I can confirm I have HDR enabled in the video modes, along with auto-detect. I followed every step of the 4K & HDR troubleshooter on the Help page (even though it's mainly aimed at 4K), and none of the steps proposed worked.

I can also confirm that there is no setting to enable on the monitor, it just auto-detects the signal when it's being output.

Example: when I turn on my PS4, the monitor displays in Standard mode. When I open a game on the PS4 supporting HDR10 (such as Mass Effect Andromeda), the monitor will auto-switch to HDR mode and display that content correctly once the game menu gets displayed.
    Nothing else to do.

On the Xbox One X, whenever I open an HDR game (such as Rise of the Tomb Raider) the monitor continues displaying in Standard mode, and I can't alter the HDR slider in the game's options since the feature is not being picked up. When I check the
4K details in the Video options, it's displaying that my display is not HDR10 compatible.

    Games do not autosave

What game or games are not auto-saving?

Usually the game will give you a heads up that it uses a auto save feature.

May want to doulbe check the games settings/options menu to see if auto save is disabled perhaps

    Turn off fps display

    Hello cory carlson,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are trying to turn off fps because of how it is being displayed from your TV. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner for you to get back to gaming.

Please try this on your games, as FPS Boost and/or auto HDR is only offered by most games.

    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, and then select My games & apps > See all.
    2. Highlight the tile of any game and then press the Menu button.
    3. Select Manage game and add-ons.
    4. Select Compatibility options.
      • Note Not all titles offer compatibility options.
      • You may disable FPS boost from here by unticking the box.
      • Note Native HDR games that are boosted to 120 FPS need to have HDR disabled if your resolution in video settings is set to less than 4K.

Should you need more details about how auto FPS Boost and auto HDR works, please check this link: Configure your console for FPS boost and auto HDR | Xbox Support.

    We hope this helps!

Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,

    XBOX ONE X

Yes absolutely it does, Your Xbox will auto-detect the type of Tv you have and setup default setting. To get the best display from your Xbox One X you will want to use a 4K capable TV with HDR.

HDR / Dolby Vision no longer working on Xbox Series X

I tried this and it helped get hdr on momentarily but it’s not sticking. HDR shows up as on only when I’m in the calibrate hdr for games menu. Once I get through menu it’s gone again. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Edit: hdr is working with some games, but the UI isn’t hdr which I can live with.
