Using a USB Mic with an Xbox One console

    Hi there

As stated it's suggested to use a headset instead of a USB microphone but if it works usb as power source with pink plug you can get a splitter that goes in to the jack of the controller and mircophone jack into mic jack female and headphones into the headphone
jack and use the usb grabbing power that way, That is one way I have seen people setting them up like for broadcasting but that's for PC's mostly.

Do you have a headset where this worked before? Or did you change headsets and since then the Microphone is muted?

There are two types of 3.5mm headphone jacks called OMTP and CTIA. On both standards, the microphone connector is switched with the ground connector. So if you have an OMTP headset, the controller is listening for a microphone on the ground connector, while
the microphone sends signals to the controller ground.

Xbox controller headphone jack not working for microphone

Hi there! This is Virginia O.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with your controller headphone jack.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Since you have already tested multiple headsets, the issue stems from the controller itself rather than the headset.

Please be guided with the following troubleshooting steps:

Go to Settings > Devices & accessories > Select your controller. Under Audio settings, ensure that Mic Monitoring is turned up. Check Privacy settings as well by going to Settings > Account > Privacy & Online Safety to confirm that voice communication is enabled.

And then power cycle the Xbox. To do this, fully turn off your Xbox and unplug it for 30 seconds. Turn it back on and test the mic again.

Next is to inspect controller and headphone jack. Please check for debris or dust in the controller’s headphone jack.

Then update your controller firmware. Do this by going to Settings > Devices & accessories and select your controller. If there is an update is available, install it.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly test on another device by plugging the headset into another Xbox controller. And then see if it works on a different controller.

Please test the headset on a PC or phone to see if the mic works properly.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    X box one controller

...we have tried different head phones and it still does not work any idea or do i need to send the controller back.
Are the headphones official Xbox headsets with a large connector that looks like an USB plug, or is that a third party headset with a 3.5mm headphone jack and three rings on the connector?

If it is a 3.5mm jack headset, be aware that there are two standards for the 3.5mm jack called OMTP and CTIA. On both standards, the microphone and ground pin are reversed.

So it might be that the controller is listening on the ground pin, while the headset microphone is "talking" to the ground connection on the controller.

If the headset is a OMTP standard headset, you will need a OMTP to CTIA adapter (since the adapter simply crosses two wires, the adapter works also the other way around).

    Thanks
