    In looking at a new console, the One X series is less expensive. Is that one compatible? It's confusing because it is both a "one" and "series x"

    There's not a One X series. There is a One X and a Series X. A Series X (and Series S) are the newest consoles and what new games will be released for. Anything labelled as a One is old gen and studies are not releasing many games for those anymore.

    Thank you. I didn't want to waste money buying the wrong console. Doom is the only game I play, and have played since the original release.

    The game is not compatible with Xbox one you'll need a series console or play via the cloud using Xbox game pass ultimate

    Let me help you with your concern today. Please note that this is a public forum,I apologize for a delay in response.

    It may be due to the Premium Upgrade, they may have purchased it to get early access. There is a DOOM: The Dark Ages Premium Upgrade which you can purchase separately to get the Premium benefits which includes the 2-Day Early Access. It's just an upgrade, so it does not include base game.
