    How to prevent my Xbox One console from installing games from the disc


    Some of my Xbox 360 games I have two discs

    And some of my Xbox One games that have one or two discs

    Ends up installing the game from the desk on the system taking up space on the system

    At the same time when it's trying to update the game

    When I end up

    Going to the system settings to uninstall just the game and it uninstalls it and updates as well.

    I'm trying to keep the game there just on the desk and not on my system

    Taking up my valuable space.

    I thought there was a settings where it says play games automatically was the option to choose whether or not you want to have the game installed or not but

    It's still installs it

    When I go to system settings underneath the game card

    It tells me that the game is installed on the system I think

    Cuz it's a pretty big chunk of data

    How do I fix the situation?

    You can't play them without installing them.

    Disc will allow access to games once installed but pauses during installation/fails to intal

    Sorry to hear it. If the disc is not installing then try taking the console offline for the install. It's possible that game updates are preventing the install from completing.

    If the console is not reading the disc at all then perhaps it is in need of a repair.

    Hey there ddabbb3!

    You might be right, but I have another suggest we can try first, just to be sure.

    Do you have a
    USB drive     that you can format for use on your Xbox 360 console? If so, I suggest formatting it and using it to install the install disc to the USB drive, then install the play disc to your Xbox 360 consoles hard drive.     That way you'll have both
    discs installed which will prevent the disc drive from working extra hard, and they'll be installed to different places to prevent the data from both discs from being drawn from the same place at the same time.

    If you're able to try that, let us know how it goes and we'll work with you from there. =)

    To start off, is your Xbox One connected to Xbox Live when you try to install the game? If not, be sure to connect when you get a chance. If you're connected are there any scratches or marks on the disc that may be preventing your console from reading it?

    Your wireless strength is quite low and may be causing disconnects that prevent you from completing a download. Can you try disconnecting your Xbox One from Xbox Live and install the game from the disc while offline?
