My son's account in xbox family group is unable to play with other family members on minecraft

I have added friends/gamertags for myself and my eldest son's account for my youngest son. I am the family organizer. My youngest son plays on ipad and switch. However, no matter what I do I am unable to see any of us (his friends) on Minecraft appear online. I have seen other users report similar behavior on these forums and no solutions has helped.

Per the screenshot attached, my minecraft Friends window is on the right. His is on the left. He has friends added but they always show up as "Offline" so we can't add him to any of our play sessions. As you can see we both have the friend w/ the creeper icon (my eldest son in our family group), but only one shows "online". The same behavior occurs on switch and ipad/ios so I believe it's some sort of xbox/family gaming configuration. I have the xbox family app installed and his account is configured for "add friends and follow others: Enabled" so he *SHOULD* be able to add people, which he can. He just can't see them *EVER* appear online. I never receive any friend request approvals on the xbox family app either, so its' like his profile isn't communicating with my family organizer account.

For whatever reason on the xbox family app it says "User doesn't have any friends yet" (only followers show up).

    :)

How do I make my child the adminstrator on his laptop in Microsoft Family?

    Thanks for the reply.

I am using the Microsoft Family Website and I am logged in on my account as the family organzier, the only family organizer our family account has ever had.

Unless they are hidden somewhere very obscure, I cannot find where I can give my son administrator access to his own computer for school. It feels as if there are a layer of controls that are being hidden from me, the parent, for my own family account.

When I try to just remove him from the family account, I get the following message:

You can't remove [Son] from the family group

Family members under statutory age need an adult's consent to join a family group. Only the adult that granted consent for [son] can remove this family member. Ask the family organizer who granted [son] consent to remove [son] from the family group.

This is pretty infuriating and starting to make me really wish I never started the family account in the first place.

    Change email for parental consent

Because the original account is now your eldest son's account. Technically he has to consent all the changes on the family settings.

I think, you and your youngest son should be removed from the family group first (the one that you share with your eldest son). He might have to do it, as he has the parental control.

Then sign in your xbox, and create a new family group for you and your youngest son.

Remove yourself or a family member from your family on Xbox One

Create a child account and add family members on Xbox One

Hope it helps and did not confuse you more, let us know if that works!

i don't need an alias, I need to change my son's email address from mine to his

    Hi, you can try this:

As your son is the family organizer go here with his account https://account.microsoft.com/family/home > select add member > make sure to select the family organizer role > type the email address associated with your Microsoft account

Once you join to the group, double check if indeed your account is a family organizer as well

Then use your son’s account to leave the family group and revert his age changing the birth here
    https://account.microsoft.com/profile

Finally use your account to invite your son to the family group again, but select this time “family member” and not organizer
In that way you should be able to control his privacy settings and everything

barred from inviting or accepting family group requests

until we are in a family group we cannot have parent accounts, my husband and i cannot alter anything on our sons account as parents as the family group feature isnt allowign us to join as a family group and even when we were joined, we were unable to alter region or date of birth for our son because he is 'underage' in the uk where his region is set, so have to wait 2 years before tis changeable

Previously purchased Minecraft not showing in Microsoft Store

One of the family group members bought the Java version of Minecraft recently, there are no other Windows version purchases.
