  1. There’s no way to turn off the Xbox Series Controller light on PC

    Hey everyone,
I’ve been using the Xbox Series (9th Gen) controller primarily on PC, and while I love the overall experience, there’s one persistent issue that’s really bothering me:

The center Xbox button light is way too bright on PC — especially during nighttime gaming.
On console, you can reduce its brightness, but switching back to PC resets it to full brightness.
There’s no option to dim or disable the light on Windows.

Some people try to block the light with black tape, but I really care about keeping my controller in good condition, and I don’t want to stick anything on it.
There should be a clean and permanent solution.

I hope Xbox considers PC users in this matter.
Adding an option to disable or adjust the light — maybe through a firmware update or the Xbox Accessories app — would make a big difference.
If others feel the same, let’s raise our voices.
A collective request might just get Microsoft to take action.

I need a way to successfully unsync my Xbox controller from my console, so I can again use it on my laptop via bluetooth.

For now, why not just turn off the Xbox at the wall, then sync your controller to your PC, then turn the Xbox back on at the wall. That way you wont turn the Xbox One on when syncing the controller to the PC.

Can you turn off the Controller "X" light?

Yes, this is a little annoying to me as well. I purchased an Xbox One controller to use with my PC, and the light is super annoying when plugged in. When I unplugged it from the USB cable, it flashed for a bit, but then stopped. I wonder if there's any
way to turn off the controller when it's unplugged from USB and on battery? Or does it automatically sleep when not connected to an Xbox system or PC?

Do I need a new controller?

Hello ÚÑKÑØẄÑ ©, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue with your Xbox Series X controller. Here are some possible solutions you could try:

Restart your Xbox console: Press and hold the power button on your Xbox console until it turns off. Next, disconnect the Xbox Series X from its power source. Turn off the Xbox controller and remove its batteries. Finally, connect and turn on your Xbox Series X.

Restart the controller: Press and hold the power button on the controller for several seconds until it turns off. Then turn it back on.

Pair the controller with the console again: Press and hold the sync button on the console until the power button flashes. Then, press and hold the sync button on the controller until the lights on the controller flash.

    Best regards.

Xbox Series X Controller can´t connect to Windows 11 (Except via Bluetooth)

Ok, so the problem is solved now. Here are the steps I followed.

    - Uninstalled Xbox Accesories App

    - Uninstalled all Driver in the Device Manager related to "Xbox Controller" and "Xbox Wireless Adapter"

    - Unplugged the Wireless Adapter

    - Turn off Bluetooth

    - Turn off the PC

    - Reset the Xbox Series Controller pairing (Hold connect button for x seconds)

    - Turn off Xbox Series Controller

    - Boot the PC

    - Insert the Wireless Adapter -> Drivers are installed automatically

    - Turn on Xbox Series controller

    - Succesfully paired with the Wireless Adapter!!

    - Install Xbox Accesories App -> Controller recognized :)

    - Turn on Bluetooth

Thanks for the answer, Kathy and sorry for the delay but life prevented me from answering earlier.

The fact that running a simple troubleshooting routine solved it points at a software issue so I don´t expect to have this problem again.

    Hope this helps someone.

Xbox series controller turns on XBOX automatically after I disconnect from PC USB

good work around but i am still surprised the controller is not turning off when holding the xbox button, as all my controller do and they are a mix of xbox one controllers and series controllers. regardless if connected via wireless or usb to the pc.
