I can't log in minecraft on PC

I'm trying to log on via my desktop PC. I set up an account for my child to use on the iPad and it works fine there, but I can't log on and access Minecraft with my child's account on my desktop PC.

When I try to log in it says on my brother's PC it says he doesn't own it (Minecraft: Java edition) so we can't play

Hi, Jesse. I can't remove that account as it is the primary user account on my PC. I have logged into a "Local Account" to try and fix the problem, but it has persisted. The Xbox Console Companion app is currently logged into the account that I purchased Minecraft on in 2019 so that is not the problem. I am also logged into the account that I purchased Minecraft with on the Microsoft store.

i purchased Minecraft many years ago and always played on my pc. At some point i logged into it on my Xbox. So I've already purchased it for PC and shouldn't need to do this again. I just can't for the life of me work out how to stop it wanting to log into the xbox, i don't use that anymore and want to play on PC.
