I cannot log in to my microsoft account through xbox app or microsoft website

i cannot log in to my microsoft account in the xbox app, i recently had a security concern and changed my password and turned on 2-step authorization. now when attempting to log in it requires a code from my backup email or phone (that's not a problem), however i clicked both the email and phone option but as soon as i put the code in it gives me an error "0x80048823" when attemping to retry logging in through the microsoft website it still gave me the same error and would not allow me to get a code from my backup email or phone number.

forgot to mention because i know "representatives" will just say this, i've TRIED using the reset option through the website and it won't let me reset the password because it won't allow me to use my recovery email or phone number.

i also TRIED calling multiple customer support numbers only to be told by an automated system to "go online for password assistance".

Many users also comment that connecting to an alternate Wi-Fi network helped this error code no longer appear and they were able to log in. Would you kindly give it a try?

Also, is your account personal or work account?

I don't think it's an app problem, as when I tried to log in to my account from both the app or a web browser on both the Microsoft site and the Xbox site I get the same problem

I appreciate your answer, I can understand peer-to-peer assistance. Just a frustrating experience is all.

As for your solution I checked and the date and time are accurate

As a first step I would recommend repairing the app from your computer by following these steps: Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Then look for Xbox app then click the 3 dots icon next to it and select Advanced options. After that scroll down and click the Repair option.

If the error still appears I recommend you to follow the same process as before but now select the “Reset” option.
