    Hi,

    I'm reaching out after exhausting nearly every option to recover my long-time Microsoft account, which was hacked and completely taken over — including changes to the email, password, and all recovery options.

    Since the day it happened, I’ve:

    • Called Microsoft support more than 15 times
      • On hold for over 14 minutes each time
      • Hung up on 6 times
      • Shuffled between agents with no consistent support
    • Submitted multiple recovery forms with:
      • My device information
      • System metadata
      • Screenshots of account activity and linked services (Xbox, EA, Ubisoft, etc.)
      • A list of contacts I’ve emailed and exact subject lines as proof of ownership
    • Worked with two Microsoft agents:
      • Elijah, who opened a case and then closed it after 8 days saying nothing could be done, despite everything I submitted
      • Alex, who was supposed to be following up on the second case, but never properly responded or resolved anything
    Throughout this entire process, I was assured multiple times that my account was recoverable and not to worry — only to be suddenly told it’s “irrecoverable” after weeks of silence. Then another agent asking me to prove ownership and not respond to my emails.

    This account has over a decade of history, including digital purchases, subscriptions, personal documents, and connections to services like Xbox Game Pass, EA Play, and Ubisoft.

    What’s frustrating is that other companies were able to help me recover hacked accounts easily, but Microsoft — supposedly the most secure — has left me with nothing. And now I’ve lost:

    • All access to games, files, and emails
    • Personal data I can’t replace
    • Weeks of time, energy, and emotional stress
    • My game pass ultimate membership
    I’m posting here because phone support and the recovery team have failed me. The handling of this case has been deeply disappointing. I’m simply asking for real support, or at the very least, someone to call me and explain why nothing has been done.

    Sorry to hear about the trouble with your account. Unfortunately, we’re all just users here and don’t have access to account management, so we can only offer suggestions.

    As for getting support from Microsoft, it’s unlikely that they'll be able to help directly. Their support staff isn’t allowed to reset passwords or make security changes to accounts.

    Microsoft states in some of their recovery articles:

    “While we use strong passwords, encryption, security contacts, and other tech to keep your content safe, our policies limit how much support can assist you. Only you can reset your password and make security changes to your account.”

    This is done to protect against social engineering, even though it can sometimes lock out legitimate users like yourself.

    Did the hacker enable two-step verification (2FA)?

    I have a similar problem. I was Hacked and when i got my Account back i got a enforcement notification. I am not able to communicate for a YEAR. Mailing them that i was hacked did not help, Microsoft ignored it and still had me enforced....

    Call 855-229-8114 and select menu option #2 (ignore #1 as it routes you to the wrong support group.) The DirecTV rep just said that Microsoft is working on it and hoping it will be resolved shortly. Only redeeming part of this is the fact they credited me
    back $15 for this week due to the fact we are unable to use the service.

    I would call this number if you are still unable to watch the games live via the Xbox One App to get back your money for this week

    I called Microsoft Global Customer Service number for Serbia and I can't get to talk to a real person. I accidentally found the full mail address of the person who hacked me because I'm still logged in Microsoft Store with that account. It also still has my full name on it. What should I do?
