    When I try to activate a CD Key for a Games For Windows Live Game that I've never activated before I am greeted with the following Error Code:

    "can't connect to live error code 0x80151906"

    This is not allowing me to connect to LIVE as it's unable to verify my CD Key due to something being broken on Microsofts end.

    I believe this started occurring on the 14th of April 2025 and numerous users have reported having this issue across other sites. This is happening for all users across every single GFWL Game. This issue also happened in 2020 but was fixed a week later according to these 2 previous posts.

    Please investigate and fix this issue Microsoft as this has locked out all users using their Keys from Steam, CDs and the GFWL MP to connect to Live on GFWL. This appears to be happening for both GFWL Games that use Server-Side Activation and Legacy Games for their Activation Keys. We need this to be fixed.

    I have this exact same issue!!!!! I recently got my new PC and after I installed Dirt 2 again I entered my games for windows live code and then I get this exact error code: 0x80151906. I can't connect to the online to play races, I want this to be fixed microsoft please!!!!!!

    Hi RainingRoses,

    I understand what you're trying to say but this is simply not the case in regards to the Activation Keys for GFWL. Games For Windows Live Keys have always been able to be activated, it broke in 2020 which microsoft fixed promptly. The same issue has now occurred in 2025 and this needs to be fixed again. Please if you can escalate this issue to microsoft so that they can fix it. This is affecting 1000s of users that still use this service for their purchased games. Thank you again

    Same issue, I own all GFWL games have installed on multiple devices from 2010-2025. Yet I recently bought a new laptop and started to reinstall my old library and running into the same issue. We need a fix asap. I would suggest just letting all the game be accessible to live without a key as a simple solutions thanks.

    Hi RainingRoses,

    You are incorrect on this. The GFWL Marketplace was retired in 2013 not Key Activations to connect to LIVE. The keys that were obtained through the GFWL MP, CD Keys and Steam have always still worked beyond that. This issue also occurred in 2020 which microsoft promptly fixed.

    The keys need to be able to be activated to be able to sign into LIVE on GFWL Games and we need microsoft to investigate and fix this issue so that we can continue to play our purchased games

    The windows eight store has been shut down and will not be reactivated, which is required to activate these codes. No one here can contact anyone who is responsible for such things

    Many of these games are completely listed due to licenses like virtual tennis, they cannot give out new codes for them anymore
