My Xbox Wireless Headset keeps crackling while I am connected to the xbox.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Xbox wireless headset.

Since you're connected wirelessly, there are lots of possible interference within your house that causes random disconnection. Common sources include microwaves, cordless phones, and Bluetooth devices. Try to keep these devices away from your Xbox.

In addition, make sure your headset is updated with the latest firmware using the Xbox Accessories app. On Xbox X|S and Xbox One consoles, you can access the Accessories app in the Settings menu: Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories. If you don’t already have the Accessories app installed on your PC or mobile device, you can get it at:

Note: The Xbox Wireless Headset needs to be powered on and connected to your console or device in order to update its settings in the Accessories app. Depending on how many accessories are connected to your console or device at the time, you may need to scroll left or right to bring up the headset configuration screen.

You can see if your headset’s firmware is up to date by clicking the (…) button on the headset settings screen. If a new update is available, select Update now to update your headset. (Even if no new update is available, you can still select Update now to re-install the most recent firmware.) This can take a few minutes – leave your headset turned on, motionless, and close to your console until the update is complete.

Note: To update your headset using the Xbox Accessories app on a Windows 10/11 device, the headset needs to be connected to the device using a USB-C cable.

well after a full day of testing, my xbox wireless headset are working perfectly without any audio cut/crackling/popping or disconnection.

I'm using a new 15 meters UTP CAT5e with my xbox series S directly from the router, I also installed a new HDMI (golden tip 600 hz 4K) cable.

After doing those two changes, it's working smoothly now.

seems like the problem with the wireless xbox headset is using our xbox with wifi connections for playing/downloading games (it's a completely console problem, the headset works great with my pc and android phone).

so, if u are experiencing problems with your xbox wireless headset, give the LAN cable a try.

Been experiencing this for a while, I use a wireless headset also. Same issues. I thought it was my xbox, at least I know it isn't now!

Xbox freezes on boot and during gameplay with wireless headset connected. I tested this on old white 60gb and a slim xbox using the same original white xbox headset.

It is not the headset itself creating the crackling noises, like I said in my post whenever I move the wire that connects to the block with the mute and volume options it crackles through the headset. It sounds like the wires are losing connection or they
are touching each other. Just wanting to know how to solve a problem like this as I am most likely going to open it up and rewire everything.

For wired/wireless controllers, I don't see a difference, I use wireless though as it eliminates another cord, with a plug and play pack you don't need to buy batteries and they hold a charge pretty well.

Wireless headsets in my experience are a different story.

I own a pair of Turtle Beach X41's and while the quality of sound is amazing, the interference and crackling/popping sounds you will occasionally experience with these headsets is not. Not to mention the amount of batteries you will have to go through.

So in my opinion:

Wireless controller: Yes.

Wireless headset: No.
