Microsoft Account Recover Checking Info?

Hi

Hope someone can give me a little help. Tryign to recover my sons hotmail account. He set it up when he was younger, recently been locked out of his XBOX account and tried to recover and realised he used an old work mobile of mine as recovery number which I no longer have or have access to. He doesnt have codes or anything useful, he was young when he set it up! I am trying to do the recover but just need to check a coupel of things. His user name has the #680 on the end? I cannot enter the # symbol in recover so do I not enter that bit or just put the 680 on the end? The form asks for the Xbox Live Device ID which is 16 Digit number starting with F but in the help section it say to use the console ID second down in list on Xbox which is a long 34 digit number with . in ! Anyone guide me to which I shoudl be using here! Thanks

Hello Stuart, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

You only need to put in as much information as you can remember. You'll more than likely need to do this several times before you get the correct amount of information needed. No need to enter the # and try using the Device ID first and if it's not accepted then you know to use the other.

Im not sure Support will give you a hint but you can try them to see what help they can offer. I know they need a lot of information to prove its your account they are giving any information to.

I've never heard about this process of creating a new Microsoft account for recovering a hacked one. But if they asked you to do it, probably you'll need to create another account, update personal and security information to match the other account's info and then Microsoft will check if both information match and will let you add your old account as an alias of this new one. Then, you can change your primary email address to this one you added (which is the one from your hacked account).

But again, I've never seen Microsoft ask for that. They usually tell you to fill the recovery form and check if the recovery form info is the same of your hacked account info.
