    Switching from child to adult account


    My friend purchased minecraft java edition today. it is not letting him use the multiplayer features. after some investigating, I found that his younger brother used my friend's email address to create his account (dob 2010). we've taken the first step with changing the dob to the correct age (dob 2005), however online play is still not available. I've found the toggle but it is greyed out. from another post, ive read that the system remembers the original dob so it will not let him toggle online play on. will this fix automatically soon or is there extra steps that must be taken? I would hate to tell him that he wasted 30$ because of an existing microsoft account he was not aware of.

    Just to clarify, is your friend's account linked to a family account that is managed by a third adult?

    Hey Gal thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us!

    Unfortunately if the account is set up as an adult there isn't a setting to change to revert it to a minor account, we understand how frustrating this can be and the best bet would be to set up a

    passkey     (to prevent purchases). This would be the best bet to prevent any unwanted purchases but that's about it. Give it a shot and let us know if we can further assist in this or any other issues or concerns!

    Unfortunately as previously stated, it isn't possible, the best bet would then be to make a new

    Microsoft Account     for him. Hope this helps!
