Xbox Gamertag only partially changed

Recently I changed my Xbox gamertag, in the same fashion I’ve changed it before (through the console), except this time my Gamertag hasn’t changed correctly. My old gamertag displays where it should be, with my new gamertag displaying below it, where it should describe what I’m doing. For me it sometimes looks correct with my new gamertag, but other times it displays incorrectly. Also when in a party and for my friends it displays my old gamertag as my current gamertag, with my new one being displayed on the same line as my activity (Windoe Whipe - Home). Has anyone else experienced this recently? I didn’t when I last changed it. Note my old gamertag is “floyb gaming” and my new gamertag is “Windoe Whipe” I’ve attempted to attach an image as an example but I do not believe it has worked.

This would have worked before where you could get a gamertag change by having part of your name (first or last) in your gamertag but they do not give out free name changes for that anymore. If you want to change the gamertag then you will need to spend 800
Microsoft points or $10 to change it.

I don't quite see how someone would have been able to find out your name, and phone number (if only your partial name is in your gamertag) unless you had your location and other information in there which they recommend you not put in for people to see.

So short answer is that you'll have to spend $10 or 800 Microsoft Points to change your gamertag yourself.

I guarantee if he calls support, they will get him a forced change for free as long as the name of the gamertag matches the first and last name on the account like he claims. First AND last name is one of the few situations I know this to be accurate. Partial
they will typically tell you too bad since you can't use a partial name for account verification purposes.

Are you sure you deleted any partial downloads for the game? Have you tried deleting your Gamertag off of the console and then redownloading it? Have you tried downloading it on another Gamertag on the Xbox?

What if a partial gamertag is known. Is it possible to look up the person using that?

I'm trying to change my classic gamertag which is the one you see in games. My classic gamertag got changed and my Xbox One and Xbox App gamertag stayed the same (the Xbox One gamertag is the ones they added with the new gamertag system).

My Xbox One gamertag is different to my in-game gamertag and I want my classic gamertag to be changed. You can only change your classic gamertag on the Xbox One console, I have tried using the other ways and you can only change your Xbox Gamertag, not your
classic gamertag.

The reason I want to change my classic gamertag is that the classic gamertag can be fifteen characters and the Xbox One gamertag can only be 12 characters. If I use the other ways to change my gamertag it limits me to 12 characters and sets both my gamertags
to that.
