Why doesn't the Cross-Platform Play setting update for games?

Recent problem that I can't seem to find a solution for.

Yesterday, I set my CrossPlay to Disabled just to do a simple Xbox-Only game, and when I tried to set it back to Enabled, it refused to update. I've tried multiple things, turning off the Xbox, deleting the game, updating the setting over and over, but it will not update.

Update! I have.. Somehow gotten it to work!

Not sure how, but here's the best explanation I can give.

Step 1; Re-Enable CrossPlay in your settings, as many times as you see fit.

Step 2; Clear Xbox Cache (Hold power button for 10 seconds, remove power plug for ten seconds).

Step 3; Turn Xbox back on, and open the Game.

It should have updated the setting. I may, and likely am, wrong, but I hope this helps anyone.

If anyone on staff team has a better answer, please share.

Sadly, Stardew Valley on console doesn't have the cross-platform compatibility yet.. But, you can only play console to console multiplayer for the time being! Let's hope for an update to optimize cross-platform play!

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Which game is the child attempting to play that is cross platform? The only game that is available for cross platform play between Xbox and PlayStation is Fortnite. If the game attempting to be played is
Fortnite, child accounts do not have the ability to cross platform play at the moment. This is a decision made by Microsoft. The reason is that Microsoft is currently working on adding a parental setting that allows the parent to enable cross platform play
for the child account. We do not have an update on when this feature will become available, but we are aware of it and are working on it diligently. We will post an update on the Xbox forums about adding that feature to the parental settings as soon as we
get another update. We look forward to hearing from you again.

Hi!

Only select games are cross platform compatible with Ps4.

If the game you're playing is cross platform then try going into the settings, you might find that there will be an "enable cross play" option and select that!

No luck removing the child account and re-adding it to the Xbox, same result. In Fornite the message I get says

"The input device you're attempting to use requires cross-platform play, but your Xbox Live User does not have persmissions for cross-platform play."

If Epic is checking these setting locally then it doesn't look like the Xbox is getting the settings from them web. Are you sure this is implemented in the November 2018 update? It would seem odd that these new settings would be added to Xbox live parental
controls, but the UI in the November 2018 isn't updated.
