Why doesn't Game Bar work for xbox parties?

Ive tried everything. I've reset the game bar app in my settings. Uninstalled and re-installed it. Tried multiple other apps using my headset and it works perfectly. The only issue is the Game Bar and the xbox party chat. I cannot talk at all but can hear everyone else. Like I said I've used other apps like discord and TEAMS to use my headset and they work perfectly.

Hey Dr, sorry you're experiencing issues with the Game Bar. I understand how frustrating that can be when you're trying to communicate.

First, check Windows privacy settings to make sure Game Bar has mic access.

Also, verify the correct input device in Game Bar’s audio settings. If that doesn’t work, try updating audio drivers or reinstalling Xbox Game Bar using PowerShell by running Get-AppxPackage XboxGamingOverlay | Remove-AppxPackage.

If that doesn't help then Reset Game Bar in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Xbox Game bar > Advanced Options.

If that doesn't help then re-register Xbox Game bar from Option 2 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re-register-windows-8-10-a.html

And if that doesn't help then uninstall Game Bar in App Settings above, restart PC, reinstall Game Bar from Microsoft Store Settings > My Library.

My friends are having the same issue, since I’m on console i have to send the invite out ti everyone & it works fine... my guess is its a bug.

I've had the same issue on/off as well, whenever the Xbox Game Bar is being a little funky, I use the Xbox Console Companion app and that usually lets me join/start parties without any problems. Hopefully that can provide a short term fix.

No idea what's causing the problem itself though, it's incredibly frustrating.

The game bar is still in beta so there is likely to be issues like this for a while yet. It is very annoying admittedly (it has happened to me) but a restart is the only thing i have found to work right now. reporting it is also a good way to let the Microsoft
team acknowledge that there is an issue and how big the issue extends
