    Why is it saying a need a subscription to play online? I have been playing for the last 4 months and have not had a subscription but when i logged in today i can not play anymore.

    Game Pass Core (at the least) is required to play online in all games with the exception of free-to-play games. If you were able to play without a subscription, then most likely someone else had your console set as their Home and you were accessing their subscription.

    48-hour codes aren't full subscriptions and some games may require a full Gold subscription. Generally F2P games such as Fortnite require a full Xbox Live Gold subscription on order to play.
