You can still do a hard reset and keep all the content on the console without losing anything that has already been installed.

Yes, you can sign into your friend's Xbox and download any games you've purchased on your account (including any backwards compatible 360 games). If you set their console as your Home console, they will have access to those games. If you do buy a new One,
you can download any of the games to your own console. If you set your console as your Home console, they will lose access to your content.

Reset the console to factory defaults, you won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account again. Email and password are required.

Follow this path and select reset keeping games and app.

In 5 to 10 minutes you will finish reconfiguring your console

Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console
