I can't add my phone number to my Microsoft account and I don't know if I have the phone...

If you're not getting the verification code to your email or phone number, kindly follow these steps:

1. Sign in to the Advanced security options page of your Microsoft account.

2. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify then choose how you would like to receive security codes.

3. Microsoft will send a security code to the new number or email to confirm. Enter that code when prompted and then select Next.

4. Select and expand the security info / verification option you have lost and select Remove.

5. Select Remove again to confirm.

If you're still having trouble adding the phone number as an alias, it could be due to the phone number you're trying to add is already associated with another Microsoft account.

I have also experienced the same issue before. In this case, you'll need to use a different/new phone number from your own number that has not been associated to any Microsoft account yet.

Also, avoid VoIP phone numbers: If you were using a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone number previously, consider switching to a traditional mobile or landline number. Sometimes, VoIP numbers may not be recognized or accepted during the verification process.

Choose the call option: During the verification process, you have the choice between receiving a text message or a phone call for the verification code. If the text message option is not working, select the call option and enter your home phone number.

I understand you need help on recovering your account.

Sorry to hear about what happened there, email is really important for us to recover the account and if you forget that, you may also try retrieving your email using an alternate email or phone through this link:

Just a heads up, this is the only way to try and recover the email on that account as Microsoft is really strict with it's account security.

I would already suggest creating a new account if it cannot be recovered anymore through that option.

When I follow those steps, the only choice I see for adding a phone number is under the alias section. There is no other way to add a phone number on my account.

And as I explained in my post, my phone number is shown as associated with the email used on my account. So I know it's not being used for another account.

Have you tried to add your Microsoft Account directly in the phone setting? maybe in this way the launcher see it

I don't know of a way to add a Microsoft account directly to an Android phone. I already have Outlook, Xbox Companion App, and the Microsoft Launcher app signed in with my Microsoft account.
