Xbox One Controller Not Connecting to Windows 11 – Need Help!

I’m running into a frustrating issue with my Xbox One controller and need some help. My controller works perfectly fine on my Xbox, but I can’t get it to connect to my Windows 11 PC using either Bluetooth or USB.

Here’s what I’ve tried and the problems I’m encountering:

    What I’ve Tried

    1. Bluetooth Pairing:

    • The controller is Bluetooth compatible, but I’ve had no luck connecting it via Bluetooth. I’ve followed the standard steps of holding the pairing button and going to Bluetooth settings, but it never shows up on my PC or phone.
    • The controller flashes when trying to pair, but it doesn’t stay solid, which means it’s not properly connecting.
    • I’ve confirmed my PC supports Bluetooth 4.0 (and above), so I don’t think it’s a hardware issue on that front.
    2. USB Connection:

    • I’ve tried connecting the controller to my PC using a USB cable (though not the official Xbox USB cable). The controller lights up, but Windows doesn’t recognize it.
    • I’ve tested the USB ports with other devices (mouse, keyboard), and they work fine, so the USB ports themselves aren’t the issue.
    • The controller connects to my Xbox via this same USB cord just fine.
    3. Device Manager Troubleshooting:

    • I’ve gone into Device Manager and tried updating drivers, uninstalling, and scanning for hardware changes.
    • I even tried manually updating the driver, but the Xbox One controller peripherals don’t show up. I don’t see any Xbox controller drivers or unknown devices listed when browsing manually.
    • The controller doesn’t appear under Devices and Printers or Game Controllers either.
    4. Xbox Accessories App:

    • I tried using the Xbox Accessories App, but the option to connect a device doesn’t even show up like it does when connected to a console.
    • The app only gives me a "Need help" option instead.
    5. Other Controllers:

    • I’ve tested other Xbox controllers, and none of them work on either of my computers (Windows 11 and Windows 10).
    • They work fine on the Xbox, but not on my PCs, so I don’t think it’s a controller-specific issue.
    6. Checking for Drivers:

    • I’ve searched for Xbox One controller drivers manually, but Microsoft no longer provides them for download.
    • Windows 11 is supposed to have built-in support, but it’s not recognizing anything.
    7. USB Root Hubs and Devices:

    • I’ve tried uninstalling USB drivers and resetting them through Device Manager, but the problem persists.
What Happens When I Try to Connect

    • When I connect the controller via USB, the light comes on but flashes instead of staying solid. It doesn’t show up under any devices on my PC.
    • This happens with and without batteries in the controller.
    • The controller works perfectly fine on my Xbox, so the issue seems to be with the PC connection.
    Additional Information

    • The controller is definitely Bluetooth-enabled and should work on my computer, but for some reason, it just won’t connect.
    • I’m not 100% sure my computer is Bluetooth 4.0 compatible, but it’s a fairly new machine, so I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.
    Specs:

    • Computer: ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 G634JYR_G634JYR
    • Processor: Intel(R) Core i9-14900HX 2.20 GHz
    • RAM: 64 GB
    • OS: Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (64-bit)
    TL;DR:

Xbox One controller works on the Xbox but won’t connect to Windows 11 via Bluetooth or USB.

    I’ve tried everything:
    ✔️ Reinstalling drivers
    ✔️ Checking Device Manager
    ✔️ Using different USB ports
✔️ Using the Xbox Accessories app
    ✔️ Testing different controllers

    No luck.

Has anyone run into this issue and found a solution?

XBox controller disconnects from PC or stops responding

Hi Keith, There are two ways to connect an Xbox controller to a PC: with a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

    Connect with a USB cable

Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.

Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Xbox controller.

The controller should automatically connect to your PC.

    Connect via Bluetooth

Make sure your Xbox controller and PC have Bluetooth.
    Activate Bluetooth on your PC.

Press and hold the pairing button on the Xbox controller for 3 seconds.

The controller should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC.

Select the Xbox controller from the list and click "Connect."

Let me know if the information is still useful.

    Sincerely,
    Marvina.

Xbox One Controller Not Connecting to PC via Bluetooth or USB — Tried Everything I can think of

    Hi, jbjbjbjbjbjbjbjbjbjb

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

According to your description, you have tried many test solutions and troubleshooting solutions for your Xbox one console, but the result is that it cannot connect to your PC.

I have read all your test records and tried solutions. There is no doubt that you must be a very careful person and really want your Xbox one controller to work.

Some help I can provide you is, please check your Xbox one controller (you can also send us pictures to check), the old version of the Xbox one controller does not support Bluetooth. But Xbox one and all Xbox controllers after have a special Xbox wireless protocol connection, which is not connected via Bluetooth.

You tried to use your Xbox one controller to connect to the Xbox console wiredly, and at this time you cannot tell whether it is a wireless connection or a wired connection.

We recommend that you try to use other data cables to connect more devices to confirm whether your Xbox one controller has some hardware (data interface) damage.

Based on your current guess, your Xbox one controller interface is damaged, resulting in the inability to use wired connection, and the Bluetooth module may also be damaged or this model of Xbox one controller does not support Bluetooth.

By the way, please also tell us about other Xbox controllers you tested and the corresponding models.

Looking forward to your latest progress and more information, we will continue to provide you with help and support.

XBox Controller won't connect with Bluetooth after connecting with USB

I have the same issue on every PC I've tried.

Once connected once via USB, the controller will not connect via bluetooth ever again.

The only way is to to remove the device and re-pair the controller over bluetooth
    EVERY time.

This issue is only with the Xbox controller, PS4 and others I've tried can re connect fine.

Adaptateur sans fil Xbox pour Windows 10

No, not necessarily. The Xbox One Wireless adapter has extra functionality, but for basic wireless use you can connect via Bluetooth. If your PC doesn't have Bluetooth a BT dongle can be purchased for less than $10/€7.

Note that the Xbox One controllers can also be connected via USB cable. The Xbox One uses a Micro USB cable, Series X controllers are USB C.

Connect Xbox controller to Windows 10 via Bluetooth

    Hi,

All of those controllers support Bluetooth connectivity, so, as long as your PC has Bluetooth, you can use them via Bluetooth wireless on a PC/laptop. If your device does not have Bluetooth, you'll need an adaptor.

4N6-00002 is marketed as an Xbox One controller for Windows. This controller also comes with micro USB to standard USB cable.
