Unable to update Xbox controller firmware via PC

Do you know if your Xbox controller received recently a firmware update?

Can you double check that connecting the controller via USB cable to your Xbox or PC and open the Accessories app?

Perhaps this could be a configuration setting on your particular PC? Do you have a PC tower or a laptop? I ask this because this isn't something I'm aware of. My Xbox One controller is connected to my PC via USB cable, and as far as I'm aware, my controller
comes on as soon as I boot into Windows. I don't have to press the Xbox button to turn on the controller manually.

As for the Accessories update, this isn't a driver update, it's a firmware update that is a applied directly to the controller. Firmware updates can not be downgraded.

Thank you for confirming. It's best that we check first for your controller firmware update. If you have an Xbox console or Windows PC there, simply connect your controller through a USB cable and check for its update via the Xbox Accessories app.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to downgrade an Xbox controller's firmware version from a PC. Firmware updates can only be installed through an Xbox console or a Windows 10 PC with the Xbox Accessories app. If your controller is not connecting to your PC via Bluetooth, you may need to update your PC's Bluetooth drivers or use a Bluetooth adapter that is compatible with the controller. Alternatively, you can continue to use the controller with a USB cable.
