Can't Connect to Xbox Live Party Chat on Series X

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues using the party chat feature of Xbox. You shared that you received an error message, can you please provide the exact error message or code?

You can also test your connection for any issues by going to Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings > Test network connection.



Please make sure that your Xbox settings are configured properly. These communication settings can be adjusted to limit who you want to chat with.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system.

2. Select Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customise.

3. Select Communication & multiplayer, and then review the settings for the following to make sure that they are set to Friends or Everyone:

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites

You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text

You can use video for communications

Note: If you're connected to a Discord voice channel on your Xbox console, your party chat status will say “Discord” and the name of the voice channel that you're in. If you want to join or start an Xbox party chat, disconnect from the Discord voice channel so that you can switch over to game or party chat. From what I understand the series X is pretty much a much more upgraded Xbox One & I believe Phil Spencer has stated that people with Xbox One or Xbone X or S will still be able to chat in parties with those who have a series X so people who can't upgrade
don't need to worry about it right away (Except for the new games & upgrades)

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Kindly power cycle your console. Turn off your Xbox, unplug it for 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.

Please test your NAT type. To give you a heads up a restrictive NAT type (Moderate or Strict) can cause connectivity issues. To check this one, please go to Settings > General > Network Settings and check your NAT type. If it's not Open, you may need to configure port forwarding on your router.

Here are the list of ports to forward for Xbox Live:

TCP: 3074

UDP: 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 4500

And then adjust privacy settings. Make sure your communication settings allow Party Chat. Navigate to Settings > Account > Privacy & Online Safety > Xbox Privacy > View Details & Customize > Communication & Multiplayer. Set options to "Allow" or "Everybody."

Next is clear MAC address. Kindly go to Settings > General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address and select "Clear." Restart your console afterward.

it won't let you connect to live while play an original xbox game. so you can't even go to party chat.

i'd wish it did though.
