I got an email from Microsoft saying I paid for a gamertag change but I did not.

Hi there! This is Virginia O.

I understand that you are experiencing unauthorized charge on the account.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

A gamertag change is an action being done on the account while the account is being signed in.

Since it was changed, it means someone has accessed your account and made the change.

To prevent this from happening again and to secure this account. I am encouraging you to:

    1.Change your account password:

Go to https://account.microsoft.com>; Security> Change my password.

    2.Update your security information:

Go to https://account.microsoft.com>; Security> Advanced security options.

3.Set up a passkey on the Xbox.

Once all steps are performed, your account will be more secured.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

I did not make any purchase, got email from Microsoft Store saying I did

Hi Syam, my name is Oskayra and it's a pleasure to help you.

If your refund was denied, and you believe it is a mistake because you have not requested many refunds this year, please respond to the email you received informing you of the refund rejection. In your response, explain in detail the reasons why they should reconsider their decision and why you believe they should accept it. This is the only way to appeal the rejection and get back in touch with the team that originally handled your refund request.

If you have not received any email informing you of your refund rejection after 24 hours, even after checking your spam/junk folder, I recommend requesting a refund again using this alternative link:

    https://support.xbox.com/forms/request-a-refund

If your refund is denied again this time, you should receive an email informing you of the denial as this is the only way they have to communicate this information when a refund is requested through that link. When you receive the email, respond to it as I mentioned before.

Remember that this is a public forum of the Microsoft community where we are players like you who try to help/guide other players to find the solution to the problems they are experiencing, however we do not belong to Microsoft, this means that we do not have access to the accounts or information of other players.

If this information was useful to you, let me know and if you need more help I will be attentive to continue helping you.

    Best Regards, Oskayra

    New name change system.

Im having the same problems. I changed my gamertag twice. And its still showing my old gamertag. I did the first free one then paid for a new one but the money went through and the gamertag didnt *obvious Microsoft move* but we just got to suffer and wait
    I guess.

Gamertag seemed to be changed with reset and cant access original one.

Yes I have but it has generated a new gamertag for some reason
So when you use the same email that you previously used, that had a specific gamertag, it did let you log in with that email and password, but then showed a different gamertag? That's very strange indeed and should not have changed the gamertag unless it
was against Code of Conduct in some way (offensive etc). Have you tried checking the email that you use to log in with that account, to see if you got an email regarding a gamertag change from Microsoft?

    Requesting a Gamertag change

You will not get a free gamertag change from microsoft, I was bullied and harass by other gamers on xbox live. But I paid the 800 points to change my gamertag as i was not given a free gamertag change, now i have a different gamertag the bullying and harassment
    has stopped.

so i would say get the 800 points and change your gamertag to something, other gamers cant make comments on.
