Xbox Series X issue with fan?

    Hello

My Xbox series X has been crashing every 10-30 minutes on recent graphically intensive games (Avowed,Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Indiana Jones). The console either crashes the game to desktop or the entire console shuts down. Much older games don’t have this issue.

I have reinstalled these games, deleted save files, reset my console (keeping games and apps), entirely reset console (not keeping games and apps), deleted cache etc.

I disassembled the console and looked at all its parts and cleaned them with compressed air, although the console was spotless to begin with (less than 2 years old). It is also well ventilated and not in a confined area.

I bought an aftermarket fan to attach to the top of the console but this did nothing. Still crashing every 10-30 minutes. I get an hour of gameplay when I cold start the console.

I have now resorted to taking the original fan out of the Xbox and placed the aftermarket one on the system and set it to maximum power. I haven’t had a crash in a day or two now. I don’t know if this is a viable long term solution as I’m using a usb powered fan instead of the original fan in the console and worry about doing this long term, however it has helped the crashing/overheating so I’m wondering if the original fan in the console wasn’t going at full speed when it needed to.

What should I do? Should I stick with this new fan on top of the console? Or is there another fix involving still being able to use the console as it was with the original fan still in place.

It seems dangerous to take out parts that were meant to be part of the machine, but I can’t take the constant crashing of any game that’s slightly graphically intensive anymore.

    :)

Xbox Series X fan runs loud when playing Series X games

So, I recently noticed that my Xbox Series X fan runs loud when playing Series X|S / Optimised for Series X|S games specifically.

It’s quite strange as it’s dead quiet every other time, but as soon as I start a Series X|S game, the fan becomes so loud that I need to turn up the tv volume.. it’s quite distracting.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

FYI - My Series X is a pre-order/launch day model.. and it sits in an open and well ventilated tv/entertainment stand*

In comparison, I owned an Xbox One S for three years and I never heard the fan on that.
I’m having the exact same problem now. The only time my Xbox sounds loud is when running series x enhanced games, it’s completely fine on old gen games. Have you had this issue fixed or is it still a problem now?

Hi, Connor! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble playing your game on your console due to crashing. No worries, I'm happy to assist you with this today.

It is not recommended to do self-repair. I suggest sending it for repair to your local shop or Microsoft. You can try submitting a repair order here. If that's not possible, you can take it to a local game shop to see if they can repair the console.

Log in to https://account.microsoft.com/devices using your Microsoft account credentials.

    Xbox series x fan noise

I have the same issue. Since Fortnite Season two release the Xbox Series X fan is loud. Not in other games. It seems to be a Fortnite issue. I hope this will not damage my console??

On xbox one x series i play mw3 and it often shows DEV ERROR 12943 how do i fix that

which Xbox do you have? Xbox one X or Xbox series X? They are different things. Series X has the fan on one end of the rectangle

Your error is a game error, and you would have to visit call of duty support at https://support.activision.com
