    When the Xbox Live servers experience an outage, it can sometimes affect the ability to log into your profile, especially when the "Core Services" server gets an outage.

    Regardless, all of your account data is securely stored on Microsoft's servers. As far as "support" goes, Xbox Live is not going to be permanently taken offline anytime soon... not while Microsoft is still actively selling Xbox consoles.
    I don't know why your GameStop guy is scaring you with that kind of information, isn't his job supposed to be about selling you video games?

    You have to understand there is a huge amount of people staying home all over the world now and the servers are going to be extra loaded which is the reason for the outages. More servers are needed which means less backup servers are available.
