Please sign out of your Microsoft account and then signing back in can resolve the issue. To do thi go to the settings in Minecraft and sign out, then sign back in with the same account.

And make sure that the Microsoft account you're using is correctly linked to your Minecraft account.

Next is to clear the cache of the Minecraft Launcher can sometimes help. Kindly go to the settings of the launcher and clear the cache.

It is also important that your game is updated to the latest version.

If the above steps doesn't work, please uninstall and then reinstall the game in order for the corrupted files will be deleted.

SIGN UP : simply doesn't work... when i press A on it, nothing happens, it make a little noise and thats it, even if i'm connected to internet

SIGN IN : when i click it, it shows that i'm already signed in with my account, and the only option are to sign out or cancel. no of those are what i want.

I'm having the same problem. I can get online. My avatar shows I'm signed in but when I go to the store (Minecraft) it says I need to create an Xbox Live account. When I go to Xbox Live signup it says I'm already signed in. When I try to create an account
using my Windows and Xbox Live account info it says the credentials are already being used (by me).

Part of the problem I'm having is when I'm signed in with the Avatar, I don't know if that's the windows live account or the Xbox live account or something else. I doesn't say, which is not helpful. I can log into both windows and xbox live on my computer.

How do I associate my gamertag with my Xbox avatar? Or, if that's not the issue, how do I resolve this?

Does Minecraft show in the Microsoft account's order history? Check here: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders/

If it does show, make sure you're signed into the same Microsoft account on the Microsoft Store app. Open the Store app and click the profile picture in the top right. From there you can check the account and sign out if you need to switch to the correct account.

You can try signing out of the Xbox App and the Minecraft app. Then sign back into your Minecraft app and Xbox app. It should show your correct gamertag on the Minecraft app now especially since it was already showing correctly on the Xbox app.
