Why doesn't my verification code work?

Open the Minecraft launcher settings and find the "Account" settings, and log out of the current account.

I have not got 2 step verification on my account, but the password doesn't work on my xbox. I cannot find a reason as to why, and I've tried all emails accosiated with the account, nothing working. I wonder if it is worth enabling 2 step verification and then creating an app password to see if that will work?

Turning off two-step verification worked for both! Thank you. That doesn't explain why two step verification would suddenly go on the fritz, though. One day it was working fine, then the next... it goes Kaboom!

No 2 step verification. Why in what world, would I have to, from the actual XBOX ONE Edge browser have to have a security code sent to my email? Why?
