Download speed fluctuating during game updates

There are a lot of factors that go into download speeds. You will probably never see your full bandwidth being used when downloading games. The speed will fluctuate during the download depending what is going on on both ends. I have 200Mb/s download and
typically I get between 80 and 150 while downloading games. Speed tests that you run will find a server closest to your location which be misleading when you are actually downloading from a site.

Yeah they’re just not gonna fix it I guess. This is a joke honestly.

I've previously had an issue with downloading speeds, however not on a Series X.

Typically, it only occurs around times were the servers could be under heavy load - have you spotted any sort of pattern when your download speeds fluctuate by this wide margin?

If so, I recommend you try and download/install apps or games against those patterns, possibly earlier or later when this issue usually pops up.

Well the thing is I’ve actually never had it fluctuate so much before and I definitely feel like anything below 1mbps is just ridiculous even during peak times.

But the only thing I have changed is that I’ve switched from the pos gateway that suddenlink rented me to the mb8611 which as far as I know should actually be a significant improvement.

I have fiber as well and speed tests on my PC will run 900+ both up and down. I download at about the speed you get with some fluctuations depending on the game and company providing the data.

If you are downloading an update for any game/software that just came out you are most likely sharing that download with other gamers/users.
