Xbox Series X - Sky Router

I have a new router and everything else connects to it fine. I can connect the XBOX bit it won’t update or play games . I have tried numerous times to get help from a Microsoft agent and they have not been able to fix the issue. I assume it’s a setting on my router that is causing the problem?

App Sky Go on Xbox One

    Hi Luk396!

From how I understand it, the only way to access Sky Go is through the TV from Sky app on Xbox One and Series X|S consoles.

Xbox One and Series X|S console apps - some apps may not be available in your country/region.

Set up TV from Sky on your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S - step by step guide, which also mentions:

Please be aware that Sky Go Extra is referred to as TV from Sky when downloading or selecting the app on your console.

So don’t listen to anything that says you need the Sky Go app, as this app isn’t available on Xbox consoles. I believe you can access the service through the Sky app on Xbox One, as long as you’re connected to Xbox Live and have Sky Go Extra on your Sky account.

The Sky Go app is available on compatible smartphones, tablets, laptops etc. Just not on consoles, which explains why you’re unable to find it on your Xbox One.

I hope this information helps! :)

    Xbox series x keeps disconnecting

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good evening

It sounds like you are experiencing connectivity issues with your Xbox Series X.

Router or modem problems: Make sure your router or modem is functioning properly and that your Xbox Series X is within range of the wireless signal. Try restarting your router or modem and then reconnecting your Xbox Series X to the internet.

Interference from other devices: Make sure there are no other devices that may be interfering with the wireless signal, such as cordless phones or microwaves. Try moving your Xbox Series X and router or modem to a different location.

Network congestion: Make sure there are no other devices or programs on your network that may be using a lot of bandwidth, such as streaming videos or downloading large files.

Xbox Series X firmware issue: Check for the latest Xbox Series X updates, and make sure that your console is running the latest firmware.

Xbox Live service issue: Xbox Live services may be down temporarily, check the Xbox Live Service Status page

Series X well not play online.

    Hello Mayhem UK,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that there might be a compatibility issue between your Sky Broadband router and your Series X console. This could explain why you can play online with your mobile hotspot, but not with your router. To confirm this, you could try connecting your Series X directly to your router with an ethernet cable, bypassing the network switch. If this works, then the network switch might be interfering with the communication between your router and your console. If this does not work, then the router itself might be incompatible with your console.

I have a few more questions to help me understand the situation better.

    - Have you tried connecting your Series X directly to your router, bypassing the network switch?

    - Have you checked if your router's firmware is up to date?

    - Have you tested your network speed and latency on your Series X? You can do this by going to Settings > Network settings > Test network speed & statistics.

    - Have you tried resetting your console's network settings? You can do this by going to Settings > System > Console info > Reset console > Reset and keep my games & apps.

    - Do you have a Game pass Core/Ultimate Subscription that is required for some games to play online?

To fix this issue, you could try updating the firmware of your router and your network switch, if possible. You could also try changing some settings on your router, such as disabling IPv6, changing the DNS server, or enabling UPnP. You can find more information on how to do this on the Sky Broadband website or by contacting their support team again. Alternatively, you could try using a different router that is compatible with your console.

“UPnP Not Successful” appears in your network settings | Xbox Support

Troubleshoot your Xbox network connection | Xbox Support

I hope this helps you resolve the issue and enjoy playing online with your Series X. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us again. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Multiple Xbox Console on Network (Wired)

    Hey,

Thanks for such a quick response, didn’t expect that 👍

Will the advice you have given allow me to use a switch for the two Xbox x consoles?

They currently use both ports on my sky router.

Should I upgrade the router to something more appropriate or use switches?

    Thanks Clinton
