Xbox One S: Issues loading games and system content

I'm not really excited for it. I'm content with my Xbox One S. I don't know what else they could really do except faster load times for the games and faster install times

In system settings, Back up and Transfer, you'll notice this is a 'Download 4K game content'.

This setting should not apply to Xbox One S games. If this option is ticked, the 4K content will be downloaded, but it won't be a applied to the game unless you play said game again on an Xbox One X console. Otherwise, it uses the standard textures.

Also, bear in mind, '4K content' doesn't necessarily mean new textures. Many games have no additional textures, just a set of files to push the game resolution into 4K when the game is run on an Xbox One X console.

I've not seen any instances of Enhanced games with missing textures on original Xbox One hardware, or the One S.

I take it, your other games are all fine?

You can transfer content between the two sure. You would do it the same way it can be done on the current Xbox One S and X.

You may not be able to transfer everything as the expansion is 1TB and your hard drive may be larger than this. You won't need to transfer everything anyway as the hard drive can still load Xbox One games, it just won't be able to load Series X/S games.

The loading performance you'll get will vary per game. With Open world games benefiting the most.

I have a gaming PC with a modest speed SSD. On Assassins Creed Odyssey it takes 6 seconds to fast travel between locations in the game world. On my Xbox One X it takes 40 seconds!

One thing I personally cannot say for certain is if those games loading from the external hard drive will run the same way they would if they were installed straight onto the console...

If you load games on the Series X or S from an external hard drive they will load the same as they do on a regular Xbox One. There won't be any performance issues. Games installed on a external SSD (SATA SSD not the Expansion Card) will load faster then
they would before due to the much faster I/O on the Series X/S.

If you move your games to either the internal storage or the optional Expansion card, you will see significant loading speed improvements. They'll be massive on a game such as Odyssey. Fast traveling in 5 seconds rather than 40 on a regular Xbox One or One
X!

To use the Series X/S 'Quick Resume' on Xbox One or other BC games will require said games to be installed internally or to the Expansion Card. Series X/S games can only be installed on the Internal or Expansion card.

Theres loads that bought the Xbox one S as a 4k Bluray player .... When will this issue with Oblivion and Lucy getting fixed ? Got the Movies n cant play them.

On AvS forum there a Xbox one S tread with loads of 4k lovers that not happy atm... Well worth a read microsoft.
