Why does the time limit I set for my kid in the Xbox Family app keep counting down after my...

The bug is happening on an Xbox series S. I have verified multiple times that this happens and I made sure to verify the Xbox stays on after signing out. I've seen this issue reported to Microsoft going back to 2019 (seven years).

The existing work around is that my kid plays his full time limit all at once. I'm sure you can imagine how that is a suboptimal condition.

    :)

Xbox family safety- my son has unlimited time with 0 hrs

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

Hey masterblasterNC, how are you today? Hope you're well.

masterblasterNC, try to remove your son's account from the family, wait 20 minutes then add his account back.

Then, sign in to your Microsoft account. (https://account.microsoft.com/family/home)

On your family page, scroll to your kid's name and select Screen Time. (If you don’t see

your kid's name, use "Add a family member" to add their account to your family group or create a new account for them if needed.)

To set one limit that applies to both the Xbox and the PC, turn on "Use one screen time schedule."

To manage time limits separately, scroll down and turn on screen time for Windows devices or Xbox, whichever you want to set first.

Click "Set a time limit." Then choose a start time and an end time for each day of the week.

You can program the Xbox to send a notification to your kids when their screen time is ending.

To do this, press the Xbox button on the controller.

Select System > Settings > Preferences > Notifications > Xbox Notifications > System and turn on "System notifications." Your kid will see the clock count down when time is ending.

Set Xbox time limits on organizer account

    Hi AaronBeatty

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Upon reading the description you have posted, it seems that you have an issue with Xbox wherein as an organizer of your Xbox family group. You want to know how to set limits.

By the way, here are the information we would like you to check. On how you can set time limits on you Xbox family group:

Set screen time limits for your Xbox family group

You can manage how long members in your Xbox family group spend on their Xbox and Windows devices. While you can’t manage these settings from the Xbox console, you can configure screen time limits from the web and the Xbox Family Settings app.

Note After screen time limits are set, time counts down whenever a member is signed in. Make sure that they sign out when they’re not actively using their device.

Set screen time limits on the web

If you’re an organizer in your Xbox family group, sign in to your Microsoft account on the Microsoft Family site.

Sign in to your Microsoft account

    1. On your family group page, select the member whose account you want to manage, and then select the Screen time tile.
    2. From this page, you can connect new Xbox, Windows, and Android devices to their account. You can also adjust their daily and weekly screen time schedules. Select the device, and then select Turn limits on if this is your first time setting up this device type.

Note Use the toggle under Use one schedule on all devices to simplify and manage all devices with the same screen time limits.
    3. Use the listed time slots to adjust screen time limitations for a day or an entire week. You can adjust the applicable days, time limit, and time range.
    4. Select Done to save the configurations that you’ve set.
    5. To disable screen time limits for a device, select the More options button next to the device that you’re managing, and then select Turn limits off.

Set screen time limits with the Xbox Familly Settings app

The Xbox Family Settings app on Android and iOS allows organizers in the family group to manage members’ gaming settings and activity on Xbox consoles.

For more info on managing screen time limits and content with the Xbox Family Settings app, see:

Manage a member’s content in the Xbox Family Settings app
