Troubleshoot setting up Microsoft Outlook email

You would have to go to Microsoft account to change the email settings. Every Xbox account requires you to have an email and I would recommend only Outlook emails.

Unfortunately there is no way to separate the account. If it is a Microsoft email address (hotmail, outlook, live etc) removing the email address will close that down and you wouldn't have access to any other Microsoft service you may use.

This is unfortunately what happens when a child account isn't set up correctly.

The problem is this the Outlook email is already a Microsoft (MS) account since MS owns outlook so you can not add that email to another account as an alias. If you try and go into the Outlook account and add an alias there then remove the outlook email
it will delete that email forever so DO NOT do that.

For an Xbox Live account your default email address has to be a Microsoft one. (Live, Hotmail, Outlook). However you can set a different email as your secondary one.

change the email associated withan Xbox account by adding a new email to the account and then removing the old one. Note that an existing @outlook/@live/@hotmailaccount is considered an existing Microsoft account with Microsoft/Xbox information associated
with it and therefore can't be used, even if that account has never used Xbox Live features before. You could create a new @outlook/@live account in the process of setting up the new email, or use another email from another provider that is not already linked
as an alias to a different Microsoft account. Hope this helps!
