  1. Does NAT type matter on fiberoptic internet?

    Hi,

I just switched to ACD. They have TRUE fiber Internet all the way into your house. The speeds are incredible! But......ever since switching, my Xbox constantly goes to "moderate" NAT type PNuP or whatever can't connect. I've been able to play online games but I don't know if it is hampering my gaming in ways that I am unaware of? I have done all the steps I would normally do and I've got it to go back to "open" once or twice, but it just goes back after a while. I don't get it and I'm frustrated. Anyone know how to remedy? Or does it really matter?

    Thanks

    :)

Does NAT type matter on fiberoptic internet?

Hi Bobby, my name is Joel, I'm here to help you with any problems or questions you may have.

Bobby, the NAT type as well as the UPNP depend exclusively on the network and configuration of your router. A type of NAT other than Moderate or Open in online play only affects communication and chat in some cases, but game performance is not affected.

I recommend that you check with your internet provider and ask them to plow the necessary ports for you and if possible, activate the UPNP function on your router.

    Regards

    Can't get an open NAT

The best way to get an Open NAT type is to call your internet provider and see what they can do on their end. As Bimnog said, it almost depends on the type of modem you are using and what kind of internet your being provided with (fiberoptic, 3G, etc.) Feel
free to send me a private message and i would love to help you out!

    Nat

    Hi Wendel,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you have an issue with your NAT type. IPV4 and IPV6 does not affect NAT type as these are just two different internet protocols. We recommend going over the

    NAT type unavailable
    for troubleshooting.

    Thanks,

    COD update

Does your Internet connection have an Open NAT type? If the correct ports are not open, this could also cause updates to not download.
