Im redoing the process and recquires me to add a phone number to send a code. I put in my number and says that the verification method isnt working and should try other methods, but doesnt give me the options.

It is important to keep your account information safe, secure and up-to-date. You should set up multiple verification methods in case you lose access to one of them. You may lose access to your account if it's security isn't maintained.

So your Microsoft account is asking for verification and you don't have any phone number associated with your account, only a gmail account that is deleted now? Is that correct?

It seems odd that text messages cost you money since text messaging is a part of the cell phone technology today as part of most everyone's service, but ok. There are other verification methods. They could have sent you an email to the email address associated
with your account.

The account verification process ensures that the agent on the phone has the actual account owner on the phone. And until that verification is complete, the agent can't see the account info. Just part of the account security.

And yes, they have no need to give you their employee number. It doesn't do anything for you or for any further interactions with Xbox or Microsoft. You would want to ask for a Support Incident Number. When an employee creates a Support Incident, it ties
the person who created it to that specific reference number and that's something that can be searched on within the system on their side.

As for refunds, they have been redirected to be done online now due to the number of refund requests.

I'm sure others will chime in with more detail but if you're seeing a charge from your bank but it didn't clear on Microsofts system, it could be that Microsofts system was not able to fully complete the transaction and that might explain why they can't
refund a charge that has been unable to process.
