Bought new gamertag, but it won’t show up/says error

I bought a new gamertag for 10 dollars. As I was trying to change it, the screen said, “Thank you!” and other words confirming I purchased it.. I even got an xbox notification saying I gained points for buying the gamertag change. However, it says that there was an issue changing said gamertag, and it won’t work. Can it be changed or can I get my money back? Thanks.

Edit: did research and saw how it can take a few days to change, however I am unsure if my request actually went through or not/if there’s a way to confirm this.

Just a gentle reminder that we are only Xbox gamers here in the community. We are not Microsoft employees and we do not have tools to access any Microsoft System.

No worries! You can confirm the transaction status by signing into account.microsoft.com > Order History > select the date of range when you purchased your Gamer tag > the status should appear as "completed" if successful.

If the transaction is successful yet your new gamer tag does not push through even after 48 hours, try to change your gamer tag again on social.xbox.com to see if you will be able to acquire a free gamer tag change.

If it asks you to buy another 10$ despite confirming that the transaction status was successful and your gamer tag does not sync on your account, I highly recommend you reach out directly to Microsoft Xbox Support for further assistance as they have the tools and resources to properly investigate this case:

Kinda glad I’m not the only one, I talked to an Xbox support person and they said Xbox is currently changing their gamertag system and some people who have changed their gamertags won’t have their new one show up until the new gamertag system is completely up

If you read what it says about the new gamertag system, it gives you the reason why you’ll see numbers next to your game but won’t always show

It’s not an exact error that shows up it just say installation stopped and stops downloading with no error code or anything and it never says anything about an update. I have plenty of room for it, but it just won’t download.

Ya, now my gamertag doesnt even show up. and it just says there was an error with the same error code. It begins to download the profile again, then about halfway through it cuts off and the error code pops up.
