    Can I overwrite Xbox OS with Lakka OS?


    Ive been running Retroarch through Dev Mode on my old Xbox One X and it works just fine.



    However, I’m wondering if theres a way I can turn my One X into an emulation station using Lakka.

    Like, completely erase Xbox OS from it and install Lakka OS so it runs on startup.

    Im no wizard when it comes to these kinda things and cant code myself but, I think its a great idea and would love to have turn my old console into a dedicated emulation powerhouse.

    If anyone knows how to do something like this, if its even possible or can point me to some resources so i can try to figure it out myself it would be greatly appreciated and i’d happily share it with everyone if it can be done.

    I know this is a stretch but i think it would be so cool.

    XB1 runs 3 OS's as it is. windows 8, Xbox OS, and a 3rd to manage the other 2. upgrading it to windows 10 would be easy as it overwrites the windows 8 portion (and probably updates the OS that handles the 2) without any issue.

    Well that's a given seeing as mac apps are made for Mac OS AND iOS

    One major problem with your theory

    You need ms xbox game services for windows 10 to run the app

    Apple doesnt allow anything to overwrite their core services

    And fyi xbox games uses direct x which is not compatible with mac os

    No windows will install on a m1 you will have to get an older mac that is Intel compatible

    I think its the equivalent of a game freezing on the Xbox 360, now that we have 3 OS's (system OS, game OS & app OS) it means that if a game freezes (or whatever the equivalent is on X1) the system OS detects it and closes the game down.
