    Okay so I payed 10$ to change my Xbox name and it only changed my display name and not my Xbox gamer tag.

    If you have 2 names, then you have 2 gamertags, not a display name. One is a classic gamertag and one is the tag that follows the newer gamertag policy. That'll typically happen if you change your tag to something that is not available with the old system so it keeps both in order to use the old tag in areas that don't work with the new system.
