Why is there a number I don't recognise on my child's account?

why don't you understand I've done the call back thing but it doesn't recognise my phone number it keeps giving me an error message

You can change it on a Microsoft account but unfortunately on an Xbox account the date of birth will still be recognised as the original birthdate and therefore a child account.

unfortunately its a common issue by all accounts. I have a uk based account. My child has a US based account. Hence it wont recognise me when i try to confirm his age.... Its a balls up

why wouldn't it? I don't think I have a child account.
