I'm trying to change the email that is connected to my account without losing everything

You can add an alias to the account, to represent your ID but it will still be the same account as before.

You can create a new account, but it won't be possible to transfer the contents from the old one.

To create a new alias, log in to your account with your current primary e-mail here: https://account.live.com/names/manage

On this page, you can add a new e-mail address and then select it as your primary by clicking on Make primary.

If I'm not mistaken, you can change the email associated with a Gamertag without losing anything.

By changing accounts (different emails with different gamertags) then you would lose everything.

But if you are wanting to change the email address to your gamertag then you wouldn't lose anything.

Thank you for responding. Based off the link it is connected to my current account and email information which is my parents. Changing the alias does nothing to the xbox live information it is simply to receive emails which will then change my parents email
again and mess everything up. I need to know how to completely change all the xbox live information to a separate account email and everything so it is my personal information but it seems impossible to do so without making another account, in which case is
extremely redundant and unnecessary.

You can change the primary email address of your account without losing any of your xbox progress.
