Changing your locale won't work the way you think it does

I recently logged back into my Xbox live account which was created in the UK.

Now i live in Japan, i bought the console here from Microsoft directly. I used the code in the box for a free months gold.

I also bought a 12 month key here but it won't accept it because of a mismatched currency error.

When i try to change my account region though it doesn't work. It doesn't really give me any indication why though.

Is there any way to see why i can't change regions so i can resolve this?

How many times have you changed the account region?

You can change the console region at any time but you can only change the account region once
every three months.

You won’t be able to change your region if any of the following conditions apply:

1. You changed regions within the last three months.

2. Your account is currently suspended (for example, if the credit card on one of your subscriptions has expired).

3. You have an Xbox 360 Entertainment For All contract.

4. You are a minor (as defined by applicable law) in your current region and will not be a minor in the region that you want to change to.

5. You are currently not a minor (as defined by applicable law) in your current region and will become a minor in the region that you want to change to.
