Fortnite is saying it's blocked on Microsoft safety app but child is able to play it still

I have an issue with Fortnite and the family safety limits I have set up not actually working. The game is set for a hour time in time limits but our son can play away for as long as he wants. This is the only game that does this. The time limits work on all the other games on his Xbox. It was working on Fortnite but stopped sometime early February.

He isn’t playing via Edge or streaming it. He has the game installed from the Xbox store.

We don’t want to delete his Epic account, we just want to be able to control the time he is allowed to play.

    :)

Hi Anna, my name is Rodrigo. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

I am sorry to hear that.

He may be playing via the Microsoft Edge browser via XCloud or streaming it directly from the store.

Have you blocked it on his recent activities page?

A more effective way is to log into his Epic account and delete it.

You can set the parental controls directly in your router, if you'd like.

This will prevent your son from using any method to bypass screen time, as long as he is connected to your router.

Please, take a look at this article:

    I hope this helps.

How to prevent 12 year-old from ordering but being able to log onto Xbox without adult present?

You'll want to set up a Child's Account. This will allow the child to still be able to sign in and
play age appropriate games while blocking them from making any purchases with out adult permissions.

BUG - Cross platform play does not enable for child accounts no matter what settings you set. This needs EPIC/MS attention

If you have an Adult Microsoft account associated with your Xbox profile the latest version of Fortnite appears to prompt you to enable cross-platform play if you haven't done so already. There used to be a toggle option under game settings in Fornite to
do this. However, it appears that Microsoft is working on allowing cross-platform play for Child accounts as well (which is currently blocked, at least by Fortnite for Child account under 13 years old). There are new settings available on account.xbox.com
that allow parents to enable cross-platform play, as well as voice/text communication outside of Xbox live for Child accounts. However, these settings do not appear to be used by the Xbox One even with the latest November 2018 update. They don't appear in
the Xbox One UI when setting privacy and online safety options for Child accounts.

Hopefully, Microsoft will get this working soon. It looks like it's enabled on the web and Fortnite may have already updated their software to check the settings. But it doesn't look like the Xbox One system software included this capability in the November
    2018 update.

Installed the November 2018 update for XBOX One and the latest update for Fortnite. Even with the above mentioned settings for privacy & online safety enabled the option for cross-platform play on Fornite is still not available when signed in from the
    child account.
