Can a player get chat banned for sending an inappropriate message without being reported?

I don’t think there is an automatic filter that’s why I was asking but if you don’t know about it I’m going to assume he just got bated into getting reported like I had thought.. thank you very much for answering!

first of all it's best not answer such messages. Some trolls just want to provoke people to have a reason to report them. Even 'friends' did that cause they thought it was a funny prank.

I wonder how he could claim that he wasn't reported ??? You don't get a message if you have been.

Not sure how you could be disappointed with being banned for sending that message, A clear violation of the code of conduct, In future with trolls simply bock and then report them, If you feel you cannot do that without replying then avoid any offensive
language in your message.

Also the other player will only be reviewed if you report them and then they can only be banned if their messages violate the code of conduct

for your kid to have gotten suspended he would have had to have sent an inappropriate message to the other player aswell as you cannot get banned for nothing and certainly cannot get banned for beating another player.

You can report the other player if their message broke the code of conduct, Unfortunately though 24 hour bans cannot be appealed.

You would have been banned for a reason. Did you send any inappropriate messages? Either way make sure you report the player. You can report the them from their profile. Xbox should deal with the person in question. Don't worry about it too much, just
ignore any further messages and they should be dealt with.
