How do I fix my computer not being able to open games?

My friend helped me build my PC. We installed the necessary drivers and have access to microsoft edge and the internet. Whenever I try to open up any game though, it freezes on the initial loading screen and won't allow me to close it. If I end task in task manager, task manager crashes and I have to restart the entire computer. The hardware is good so I'm not sure what's going on. There are no error messages when it freezes on this loading screen.

However, before that, I would like to ask some questions:

Is this happening with more games, or is just Insurgency: Sandstorm and the other you mention?

Are you running Windows 10 or 11?

Meanwhile, please check if your system and all the apps related to gaming are up-to-date.

You can check for Windows updates via PC Settings > Update & Security > Windows update > click on “Get Updates”.

You can check for app updates by opening the Microsoft store

If all your system is up-to-date, please try each possible solution below:

1. Open the task manager and go to the startup tab, once there, click “disable” on each app listed.

After that, restart the PC and see if the problem is solved.

2. Do a clean boot in your Windows PC. For that, please follow this article:

You're welcome and thank you for letting me know. Have you already tried to reset your console keeping your games and apps? If not yet, don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.

I apologize for the trouble. If I may ask, do you have an external hard drive plugged into your console? A corrupted external hard drive may cause issue in installing games as well so we need to investigate further.
