Xbox reboots and then shutdown itself if it tries to access an assumed corrupted Xbox HDD.

The 4TB drive was connected for years at my XSX and then suddenly a few months ago the XSX on power up ran into this reboot and the power down condition.

Took me a while to find out it was due the drive.

The XSX did even reboot/powerdown when I tried the safe boot feature. I saw the screen shortly..then reboot.

The drive itself is perfectly ok. I did a reformat on a Mac. Afterwards the XSX accepted it again and reinitialised it.

I assume something happened which either corrupted the filesystem or some system relevant data.

But in neither case should the XSX ever reboots(due a crash I assume) and then power down.

That indicates some serious issues in either the filesystem init/check/repair phase or missing checks of data the OS uses from such drive at such stage.

It's not far fetched that if the OS can crash on unexpected data or invalid FS states that there might be the potential for backdoor too.

I really hope this gets passed to the Xbox team
